🎙️🎵 Today we present: Allegra Levy Jazz singer and West Hartford native Allegra Levy released her fourth album on the Steeplechase label titled “Lose My Number; Allegra Levy sings John McNeil” in August 2020 to rave reviews, despite being unable to perform due to the height of the pandemic. The release featured Allegra’s lyrics from the compositions of legendary trumpeter and songwriter John McNeil. Allegra, a rising New York-based singer-songwriter who has been known for her prowess as a lyricist for most of her own original jazz compositions (rooted in the great American songbook with a nod to progressive) decided to try it all. draft lyrics to McNeil’s plethora of tricky melodies. Not only is McNeil a longtime friend and mentor, but she also produced their first two albums: “Lonely City,” hailed by The New York Times as “fresh,” “exotic” and “beyond the ordinary,” and “Cities Between Us,” which prompted the JazzTimes to declare Levy “a double talent” and “unquestionably one to watch.” Allegra Levy – Vocals/Lead Carmen Staaf – Piano Carmen Rothwell – Bass Colleen Clark – Drums Baby Grand Jazz 2023 Season Call for Musicians!
